And I've had my own personal tragedies. I don't want to go into them. I'm not that guy. Just trust that I was glad to see the ass and elbows of a retreating 2016.
And here came 2017. I wasn't sure what to expect. I only knew that I was planning on going through the year with my middle finger in the fully upright and locked position. But imagine my surprise: I've got my first novel, The Raggedy Man, coming out in June/July. And that's dope. And last year, a role playing game called Mythos Tales, came out, featuring some of my writing. It's on shelves, now, and is apparently doing well.
And now, I've gone and gotten a short story accepted for publication. The story is called "Mama Sweet," and I hope each and every one of you will go and read it. The magazine in which it will be featured is called Under the Bed, and for the low price of $3.99, you can get yourself a digital magazine just jam-packed with the kind of horror that keeps you up at night, turning pages, and wishing there weren't quite so many shadows about.
The issue I'm referring to is scheduled to drop on February 4th. I pray that you will all go and purchase a copy. And I hope you enjoy the hell out of it.
And for those of you who are writers trying to break into the game, let this be a lesson to you. There is absolutely nothing like good old-fashioned persistence to get you where you want to go. Learn your craft. Do your homework. Create the best product you possibly can, and send it to the right place at the right time. And maybe...maybe, you'll be able to get your work out there.
C'mon guys. Somewhere out there, someone is waiting to read the story only you can write. So write it. Get it out there. Set it free.
You only live once, right? It says so, right there on the T-shirt.
Peace,
Chris
