Anyway, I tuned in for just a moment, long enough to hear something about dire wolves and sabre-toothed cats living in the same era in Earth's history. My whole soul froze at that moment. Wait, I thought. What, now?
Yeah, dire wolves. Marinate on that for a second. I don't read a TON of fantasy, but I've read enough that contains these beasts to know about them, and to think they're pretty cool. And to find out that they actually existed? Whoah! Now, it's entirely possible that I am the last person on Earth who didn't know about them, so maybe this "revelation" is all in my head. And that's okay. The point is, my world expanded just with that few minutes of learning. It made me appreciate both their roles in fiction, and the writers who used them.
No real lesson here, other than that dire wolves are lit AF (and can you imagine the dog and cat fight between a dire wolf and a sabre-tooth?). And that the truth is an invaluable tool in creating fiction.
Hell, most of the work has already been done for you! Now, go. Learn some stuff. Then write about it.
It might make you famous.
Later people!
